Two Weeks Left!

Celebrations Project
Three weeks ago Room 12 had to do a topic study about Celebrations. In our project we had to have a clear diagram, illustrations, subheadings and interesting information with labels that show the important features of our topic. Maranatha and I worked together as a team to complete our learning. Our topic is based on Tonga. It took us a lot of hard work and patience to get this done. We had to stay focused and get it done before the day it was suppose to be handed in. After all that researching and staying focused, we finally have accomplished our goal.
Collaborative Writing
Last week Rooms 11 and 12 did collaborative writing. We had to write a description about a picture of a chimpanzee with a mirror. At first it was easy until we got told to work in groups. Now that's when it got hard! Having to put everyone's ideas into one story was difficult especially when we all had totally opposite ideas! But we worked as a team to make our story good and at the end of the day it worked. It was hard working with Room 11 but we enjoyed it.

Manaiakalani Film Festival 2016
One week ago on the 9th of November most of Ruapotaka School students went by bus to Sylvia Park to watch the Manaiakalani Films for 2016. It was sad to see some students stay behind because of their behavior towards our teachers and classmates. When we arrived there six students including Maranatha and I had to speed walk inside the Cinema to find our seats. Maranatha and I were presenting an amazing film called " The Focuser " that half of our class made. Our film is related to our Olympics Inquiry learning we did back in Term 3. Check it out!

It's Finally Our Last Term
We're finally back from our two weeks holiday and it's the last term of the year. It's the time where we have our end of the year assessments and I'm pretty excited for it but worried about getting a low score. Goodbye intermediate, hello college!

Being Suitable With Energy
Last Thursday in the afternoon we had a very special visitor who came to talk to us about how to be sustainable with energy.
She works at Vector and we were even luckier to have her come to our school and tell us new things. Her tips and advice on how to stay sustainable with energy were very useful. She gave out some stickers to the people who answered her questions. She also showed us a solar powered car and helicopter and how it works. At the end she gave us all a book full of fun activities and ways to be suitable with energy and a pencil. We learnt a lot from her.

Rom 12s Syndicate Assembly
On Monday afternoon we had to host the senior syndicate assembly.
We had to make it thirty minutes long. But before we could practice we had to plan what we were going to do. We had two days to think and plan. On our first day we were put into two groups, we all had to memorize what we were going to say. When morning tea was over we had our first practice. We had to sit in the order we were talking in. After that it was our real assembly. We had to speak loud and clear. It was fun hosting our senior syndicate assembly.

Back To School!
Our two week holidays didn't really feel like a two week holiday. It felt less like a holiday. Just sitting at home and knowing that we don't have to wake up at six o'clock to get ready for school was awesome! But now that we have to wake up at six I miss sleeping in. Just another nine weeks to go till the next holidays YAY!

Lunch Time Sports
On Tuesday we had sports at lunch time with Mrs Shortland.
Before we could start playing we had to be put into two teams. When we were put into two teams we could start to play soccer. Each team had to make someone protect the goal. About 10 minutes into the game the other team scored a goal. During the game it started to spit. After a goal was made the ball was put into the middle and the game started again from there. That was when our team kicked it. We then got two goals. The other team then got two goals. We all played fair and were nice to each other. Well done to the winning team!

Fruit Kebab Movie
We had to make a movie that was about two minutes long. Before we could make it we had to plan out what we were going to be doing. It took us about three days to plan it. When that was done we had to practice our lines. All of us had about three days to practice our lines, before we could start making our movie.
Heilala and I brought in some fruits to use for our kebabs.Once the movie was made we were able to add music to the storyboard. We had about five days to do this. Once that was done we had to publish it. Well done!

We all tried our best. There were nine other schools there. We played against 5 other schools. They were Glenbrae, St Patrick's, Sylvia Park Maroon and Pt England Black. We lost two games and won 2 but on our last game was a draw against Panmure Bridge. We all tried out best and worked very hard. Well Done!

Tabloids Day

Lunch And Wet Day Monitor Badges.
![]() |
We got our monitor badges. The monitor badges were for the people who go to the classes when it is wet or when it is lunch time everyday. We all had to stand in a straight line before we got our monitor badges. Some of us had our badges from last year. It was good to see all of the lunch and wet day monitors with their new blue badges.
Well done!

Our First Day Back At School
After a very long boring holiday we started school today, YAY!
But something has changed we are all in new classes which means new teachers and new classmates. Walking into a new classroom felt weird but I knew I had to get use to it. All I could think about was how cool it was to be in a new class. Sadly some of the year eights were still in Room 11 with the year sevens. This is my last year in intermediate and also at this school. I am looking forward to college.
